Dear Mr. Watson,

When I was a freshman at Estero High School you really made my first year there much easier.  Everyone always had so much fun in your class but at the same time we all really respected you.  It was like you found a way to be almost like our friend and our teacher.  That is a fine line of course and I was impressed how you made it work.

I remember when my boyfriend and I broke up and the day after in your class you teased me about being his girlfriend.  Of course the class quickly informed you that we had broken up.  Later on that day you pulled me in the hall to apologize to me and to ask me if I was doing alright.  I always really appreciated that you did that, it meant a lot.

You always were joking around with us and having fun (in between class work of course). We felt so comfortable in your classroom.   I think a reason why we felt so comfortable was that you treated us like people instead of just children.  We had a lot of discussions in your class and even when you were lecturing it did not really feel like a lecture.  I knew I could always go to you if I ever needed anything or if I needed to talk you were there.

I felt that your classroom was always well structured and you managed it and our time very well.  I just remember your class being so enjoyable.  I always looked forward to your English class.  I always felt that you just genuinely cared about all your students.  You had an interest in each of use, as individuals.  It was not just about academics in your class, it was about more than that. While we were in your classroom you focused on us and connecting with us.

I was so sad that you decided to leave our school after that year.  I always thought that the students after us really got denied an excellent class.  English was definitely the highlight of my day in ninth grade. I never had a teacher again quite like you.  I would definitely say that you were my favorite teacher in high school, maybe even altogether.  I am graduated now and in college and when I look back at high school your class was absolutely one of my favorites.  Not only did I have a great time in your class but I also learned a lot.
